

Edwin Pabon

Edwin Pabon has been a mainstay in Latin music in the Boston and New England areas for many years. Born to a family of Puerto Rican musicians, he began his musical career in the mid-seventies as a percussionist with El Sexteto Pabon, a family band. El Sexteto Pabon was one of the first bands in Boston to feature Latin Music. In many ways, Edwin and his brothers Roberto Pabon, Isreal Pabon and sister Janet Pabon where the pioneers of promoting Latin music in the New England area.
Edwin began his solo career in 1990 when he formed his own orchestra. He assumed all of the responsibilities for the orchestra, i.e., booking, promoting, and acting as the musical director. Throughout his career he has performed with the best artists in Latin music, including: Tito Puente, Carlos Santana, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Tito Nieves, Eddie Palmieri, Lalo Rodriguez, Mongo Santa Maria, Ismael Rivera, Giovanni Hidalgo, Tito Gomez, and Ray Barreto.
He is a passionate performer whose commitment to spreading the vivacity of Latin music and dance continues to inspire him.
follows: the brass section (two trombones and two trumpets); the percussion section (congas, timbales, bongos, and piano); and the string section (electric and baby bass).

Edwin is the lead singer of his band, Edwin Pabon & Orchestra, and also plays several instruments—mainly percussion instruments such as the timbales, bongos, and congas. Edwin is also preparing to release his second CD “Solo Un Tiempo” that features “salsa romantica de hoy y de ayer” (romantic salsa) with Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Fronting the orchestra is Edwin and the Salsa Mix Dancers. Edwin performs
all the lead vocals of the band, while the Salsa Mix Dancers and members
of the percussion section provide chorus vocals. Edwin
Pabon & Orchestra perform a wide range of music. While audiences usually demand salsa
and merengue, the Orchestra also plays mambos, cha-cha, and boleros.
In the last decade, Edwin and the Orchestra have performed throughout
the East Coast, as far north as Canada, at concerts, festivals and
other community events, dances, weddings, nightclubs, colleges, and
on television programs

In 1996, Edwin produced and directed his first CD entitled "Lo Bueno y Lo Malo del Amor". In January 2000, Edwin released his first CD single, "Un Momento". Edwin's second CD, “Solo Un Tiempo”, was recently released. Edwin wrote all of the lyrics for this CD himself and collaborated with Gonzalo Grau for its musical arrangements. He has also completed his sixth music video, which will air on television in early 2004.

has performed at dances, concerts, community events, weddings, nightclubs,
and colleges throughout the East Coast.
